The problem
Patient imaging was scattered across per-site servers with no common archive. Clinicians at one location could not pull a scan taken at another without someone copying files by hand.
Constraints
50 TB and growing by roughly 1 TB a month. Patient data cannot leave the practice. Imaging has to stay available during clinic hours, and it has to integrate with the existing practice management software.
What we deployed
A Synology FS3410 high-availability pair with 20x 3.84 TB SSD (69 TB usable), on the Gold service tier for 24/7 monitoring and two-hour onsite response. Bought outright, since the capital budget was available.
Outcome
One archive across all four sites, failover under 30 seconds on hardware failure, and no per-patient cloud fees as the archive grows.
