The problem
Drawings lived in Dropbox at €500 a month. Opening a large Revit model meant waiting for it to sync, and ten people working concurrently at peak made that worse.
Constraints
15 TB of CAD files, ten concurrent users at peak, a mixed Mac and Windows environment, and a backup story that actually worked.
What we deployed
A Synology RS2423+ with 6x 8 TB drives — 32 TB usable at RAID 6 — on the Silver tier for 24/7 monitoring and four-hour response, rented over 60 months.
Outcome
Files open at local speed, and the monthly bill went from €500 to €295. The payback against the old subscription lands around the fifth month.
